Aphrodite users: The server is coming back up, but it will take time for it to fully get restored.

Premium Service Update

Recently we ended our $5 one-time payment for premium, and will be charging monthly when it begins to our users.

It’s been a tough time preparing for premium, with thoughts even to cancel it or just put it on hold, but we’re moving forward. In the recent months we’ve been working to get it together, working with the bot, ZNC and other programs we plan to utilize. We’re hoping premium is a hit, so we’re trying to make it the best we can with the little we have. We’re a completely free service as of right now, premium will become the only paid part of LayerBNC, with the rest remaining free.

The features of premium so far are in the works. We plan on using a dedicated server, allowing users custom IPv6 hostmask, with the possibility of getting a custom IPv4, we’re going to have a dedicated branch of LayerBNC to handle premium, with a better support service and time, and we plan on dedicating a lot of time to provide to users who pay to support LayerBNC and it’s entities.

Due to the small likelihood of premium bringing in money on a big scale, we’ll remain a non-profiting company, using all of the money to cover server cost, and only, server cost.

We WILL NOT be discontinuing our free service, as it’s what makes LayerBNC, LayerBNC. We will run both services side by side, with two split staff teams working on both services to ensure that they’re at the best shape for service.

We still remain unsure on an ETA for the release of premium, but from what I can say is, we won’t disappoint! If you have any questions regarding premium, Isiah, who has left his position as COO but will be running Premium can be reached at [email protected] to answer questions.

For those who have paid, we will be sending you an email first, to get you setup on premium when it’s released.

That’s it for now!

My Very Last Post

Hi everyone, this is the last post I’ll ever get a chance to post to LayerBNC. As of yesterday, I announced my leaving and plan to be gone by the end of the weekend.

The good news is, I won’t be entirely gone. I will remain on LayerBNC’s IRC network, and staff channels for server reasons, as I own a majority of all servers LayerBNC currently uses to operate. I’ve been the Chief of Staff here at LayerBNC, and recently I’ve been the Chief Operating Officer. I ran most of the service, in all aspects, except the development. I’ve hired staff, and fired some, I’ve spent countless hours working on the service and doing what I could to support bring free BNCs to everyone.

I won’t discuss exact reasons behind my leaving, it’s my personal life for a reason, but I do plan on helping bring premium still, along with running all the servers, from users to IRC to backup servers. I want to thank everyone who has ever been a user at LayerBNC, and I want to wish the service a hopeful future.

You will notice absolutely no changes in the service, and I’ve selected someone who I feel can take my place and manage the service like I did.

The beginning of premium

We’re working to bring premium service soon, but we’ve decided to offer a deal to those willing to accept it. What premium service will bring:

  • 1. Move to a DDoS protected dedicated server.
  • 2. Own custom IPv6 hostmask, with your own domain or using ours.
  • 3. Dedicated support.
  • 4. Unlimited BNC slots to as many networks.
  • 5. Ability to request networks that are blocked, so long as they allow our connections.

And more surprises soon to come… The prices of premium will be 2/m, 3/qr or 12/yr, but we aren’t expecting to release premium until we feel we’ve completed the bot work and the server work to get it up. So until we do it, we’re offering a 5 dollar deal, donate 5 dollars now, one time only, and get premium service for free when it arrives. You won’t have to pay monthly, or any other fees for that matter for the one time 5 dollar donation. This deal may go on for a month or so, so get it now.

Donations will of course be accepted after we’ve released premium but you won’t get premium service without speaking to an admin. We do not beg for money, and our free service will remain well on after we’ve released premium service. We will never ask you nor beg for money.

Visit https://layerbnc.org/donate to donate a minumium of 5 to take this deal!

April Update

LayerBNC is trying to stay committed to giving monthly updates to our users as our attempt to keeping users updated.

We are happy to announce we are on the move to 500 users! We are less than 20 users away, at this moment that I’m writing this post from hitting the big 5-0-0! We hope you guys spread the word and let your friends know about LayerBNC and how much you love them!

Recently, we’ve had to put a hold on rolling out our premium service. We hope to soon polish it up and send it on it’s way but we’ve realized there are some missing pieces to the puzzle. We don’t have an ETA but we hope it’s not much longer.

Regarding our referral program, due to the fact that it’s not being used, even though it allows users more space on their BNC to recommend a friend, we plan on removing it if it doesn’t pick up, in which we’ll then experiment with other ways to allow more slots for networks.

That’s all for April!

Thanks for flying LayerBNC!

Latest and Greatest

It’s been awhile since we’ve posted anything and we want to give some insight on what’s been going on.

LayerBNC is now a little over a year, and we’ve come a long way. We have acquired 9 servers, all over the world, and have an active staff team, trained to Provide excellence.

As you may tell, we’ve redesigned the site, and are giving you an update to what’s been going on around LayerBNC.

I’m sure you’re wondering premium when is going to come out .. Well, soon! We’ve acquired the server, we’ve set a plan, we’ve set prices, but we’re not done. There’s a more technical side we’re looking into, and are working on getting premium to what we want it to be, so it may be a bit longer before we’ve released any more details.

ZNC updates you wonder? Recently, ZNC released 1.6. We’re proud to announce we’ve already Began working on a custom version, and hope to have it finished within the next week or so. We’ve been busy with other stuff of course, so it’s taken team. We’ll begin upgrades server by server, and will release an upgrade schedule. We hope to get it done all in one day and will work to make sure there’s no errors to cause any unwanted downtime. The updates are expected to cost each server in more than 5 minutes of downtime.

Thanks to everyone who uses LayerBNC. We appreciate each and every one of you guys, and thank you for choosing us. It’s tough to be a ZNC service.

We’ve got more to come and do not want to ruin any surprises, so we’ll stop here. Thanks for flying LayerBNC!

Referral Program!

Hi folks!

Recently we added the ability to begin referrals in order to allow us to give you extra spaces for more networks, but to help us bring in more users.

How the program works, is you’ll need to come visit us in any of our channels, or by going to layerbnc.net and clicking chat, you’ll then want to start by using the !referral command and entering the info needed. Once you’ve received your referral code, you’ll only need to hand it out to the friends you referral, whom will then enter your code upon requesting. This is open to all users, and we hope you enjoy this.

We are taking questions in any of our channels. I, Isiah, am heading the project, so please feel free to ping Isiah/MistaMike/MrIsiah in any of our channels, and wait for a response.

We hope to add more ways to allow you to gain spaces for nets, and plan on releasing more features in 2015.

For now, thanks for flying LayerBNC!

LayerBNC - freenode I-Line

LayerBNC Users,

Our I-Line request for freenode has been accepted meaning we are now able to connect more users to freenode . This will apply a ‘gateway/shell/layerbnc/x-*’ cloak on all users connected through our servers. Any non-unaffiliated cloaks (firefox/community, ubuntu/community) will still show over our cloak, but unaffiliated cloaks will no longer show.

If you have any questions, please join us in #LayerBNC on AthemeNet, freenode, Rizon, Bit'sJoint-IRC, QuakeNet, OnlineGamesNet, and EsperNet. Thanks for choosing LayerBNC!
